IPTV Portal URL Login: Which Details Go Where (and How to Fix Errors)
An IPTV portal URL is the server address your app or box uses to reach your channels. With Kemo IPTV you can sign in three different ways depending on the device, and most "portal not working" problems come from using the right details in the wrong place. This guide shows which login each device needs, what a correct IPTV portal URL looks like, and how to test it before blaming the app.
Which login does your device need?
| Device / app | Login type | What you enter |
|---|---|---|
| MAG box, STB Emulator | Portal (Stalker) | Portal URL only. Your MAC address must be linked to your line |
| IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate, XCIPTV | Xtream Codes API | Server URL + username + password |
| SIPTV, IBO Player, VLC | M3U playlist | One long playlist link |
What a correct IPTV portal URL looks like
For MAG boxes, the portal URL normally follows this pattern:
http://SERVER:PORT/c/
- It starts with http://, not https.
- It includes the port number after a colon.
- It usually ends in /c/ for MAG portals. Leaving the slash off is a common cause of the box stopping at the loading screen.
For Xtream Codes apps, you use the same http://SERVER:PORT part without /c/, plus your username and password.
Test your login in one minute
Before changing settings on the TV, check that the account itself is active. On a phone or computer, open:
http://SERVER:PORT/player_api.php?username=YOURUSER&password=YOURPASS
- You see
"status":"Active"and an expiry date: the account is fine, so the problem is on the device. - You see an error or
"auth":0: the username, password or server is wrong, or the line has expired.
Keep the result to yourself, it contains your login details.
Set up the IPTV portal URL on a MAG box
- Send the MAC address printed on the back of the box (it starts with
00:1A:79) to support so it can be linked to your line. Without this step the portal will block the box. - On the MAG, open Settings > System settings > Servers > Portals.
- Type a name in Portal 1 name, for example "Kemo", and enter the portal URL in Portal 1 URL.
- Save, go back and choose Restart portal.
Newer MAG 5xx models put the same option under Settings > Servers. The steps are identical.
Use the same details in Smarters or TiviMate
- Choose Login with Xtream Codes API (Smarters) or Add playlist > Xtream Codes (TiviMate).
- Enter
http://SERVER:PORTas the server, then your username and password. - Save and wait for live TV, films and the guide to load.
If you only have a playlist link, follow the M3U playlist guide instead.
Portal error messages and what to do
| Message | Meaning | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| STB blocked / Your STB is blocked | MAC not linked to your line | Send the MAC to support |
| Stuck at "Loading portal" or 75% | Wrong URL format or slow network | Check http, port and /c/, then restart the router |
| Server couldn't be reached | Typo in the address or ISP blocking | Re-enter the URL; test the player_api link on another network |
| Authentication failed / 401 | Wrong username or password, or expired | Re-enter details; check status with player_api |
| Max connections reached | Line already in use | Stop the other device; standard plans allow one at a time |
For TiviMate-specific errors, see TiviMate not working.
Safe reset when nothing else works
On a MAG box, a reset clears saved portals and network settings. Write down your portal URL first, then use Settings > Reset to defaults, reconnect to your network and add the portal again. In apps, deleting and re-adding the playlist has the same effect without touching the device.
FAQ
Can I use my portal on a MAG box and Smarters at the same time?
You can set up both, but a standard plan streams on one device at a time.
Does my IPTV portal URL change when I renew?
Normally no. If support sends you a new server address, update it on every device.
Why does the box work on Wi-Fi at a friend's house but not at home?
Your home network or ISP may be the issue. Restart the router, try a cable, and test the player_api link on your phone using mobile data to compare.
